The Artist Wrapped meme was a memorable highlight in 2022, so it was only natural to do it again at the end of 2023.

Upon reflection, the Golgo 13 painting on the right ended up serving as a foundation for the subsequent Mare Obsidius artwork on the left. While the former illustration unfortunately did not fully achieve the intended tone, it provided for a valuable learning experience.

The goal of creating one illustration per month may be overly ambitious, but it is something of an opportunity to practice pacing and reducing the pressure to produce significant output within a short timeframe. Hopefully, it will allow for a more measured approach to outputting creative work throughout the year.

In 2022, art-making was a calmer and happier experience, despite not finishing much. Experimenting and pushing out of the comfort zone was refreshing.

Old habits die hard though. “Stark lineart and cel shading on white background, bonus points if it’s a person in a suit with chronic RBF” just never gets boring.

As for 2023…becoming more of a degenerate would be nice. Only time will tell.
